The Development Cooperation Programme 2012 has a total budget of about 17 million Swiss francs (US $ 18.8 million).
For livelihood resilience domain of our strategy, SDC works with three different implementing partners, namely Aga Khan Foundation, Helvetas, and Terre des Hommes. The projects, for the time being, are implemented in the provinces of Badakhshan, Baghlan, Bamiyan, Samangan and Takhar. Furthermore, SDC supports a new initiative in Bamiyan, the Sustainable Land Management Institute, primarily focused on watershed management.
For governance and human rights domain of our strategy, SDC supports programmes such as the Afghanistan Subnational Governance Programme, aimed at building the capacities of provincial and district administrations. Furthermore, SDC continues supporting selected country-wide projects such as the Law and Order Trust Fund (mainstreaming gender and human rights in the police sector), the Afghanistan Independent Human Rights Commission (AIHRC), the Civil Society and Human Rights Network (CSHRN), and the Afghanistan Civil Society Forum (ACSF). SDC also provides financial support for the Human Right Support Unit (HRSU), established last year under the Ministry of Justice.
