The SDC's Cooperation Strategy for BiH 2009-2012, opens the new cooperation domain "Health", the objective of which is to improve quality and scope of primary health care and its provision of socially inclusive services. Reason for planned shift is the need for increased focus on supporting preventive and holistic primary health care services, to which both entities health authorities are strongly committed. In addition, competent entity authorities have specifically requested SDC to support reforms in mental health sector, based on its recognised expertise in the field of primary health care and its already existing operational network.

Family Medicine
To support the primary health care reform process and to contribute to the development of Family Medicine by building the professional capacities of Family Medicine teams according to nationally recognised training curricula. |

To strengthen the professional and organizational capacities of Centers of Mental Health, competency of the professionals of the medical and social field, empowerment of nurses, and to improve legislative framework. |
