Consular and visa services for citizens of Tajikistan

Dear visitors, citizens of Tajikistan!

The Embassy of Switzerland in Astana is territorially competent for the Republic of Kazakhstan as well as for the Republic of Tajikistan. The Embassy of Switzerland in Astana will cover all duties including issuing Schengen visas for residents of both countries.

The Swiss Consular Agency in Dushanbe is an outpost of the Swiss Embassy at Astana, Kazakhstan. Thus all persons living in Tajikistan who intend to travel to Switzerland can also present their visa application documents to the Swiss Consular Agency at Dushanbe, Tajikistan. The Swiss Consular Agency has only a supporting function and has no right to decide about issuing of a visa. The Embassy of Switzerland in Astana reserves the right to ask an applicant to come personally if it seems necessary. The applicant is responsible to start the procedure early enough. It’s strongly recommended to count minimum 3 weeks for the whole procedure.

Please inform yourself on the following website how to prepare the visa application: www.eda.admin.ch/astana

How is the procedure?

The applicant prepares:

- the complete visa application dossier with all requested documents

- presents the dossier to the Swiss Consular Agency in Dushanbe.

Exception

Holders of United Nations Laissez-Passer (UNLP) DO NOT need to apply for Schengen visa to enter Switzerland . All they have to do is to present a valid UNLP at the official border-crossing points of Switzerland . However travelers of this category are requested to check whether they have, as part of their journey, to pass through other countries in order to reach or to proceed from Switzerland . If this might be the case the holder of the UNLP may require a separate visa for these other countries or destinations.

The Swiss Consular Agency in Dushanbe:

- makes a first informal control of completeness of the documents

- accepts the payment for visa application proceeding (see the prices below) and also takes care of dispatching the applicant’s documents to the Embassy of Switzerland in Astana via DHL (direct dispatches by applicants are not accepted).

- accepts the payment covering the cost of courier services Dushanbe-Astana-Dushanbe  (in USD only, amount see below) in advance.

- proves the completeness of the dossier with a stamp

NB: the cost of courier services is subject to changes, of which you will be duly informed.

The Embassy of Switzerland in Astana:

- controls the documents and issues the visa if all conditions are fulfilled

- sends the passport back to the Swiss Consular Agency in Dushanbe

The Swiss Consular Agency / Swiss Cooperation Office at Dushanbe:
