KYRGYZSTAN: Swiss embassy to be opened in Bishkek

The Swiss Government has decided to elevate the level of Switzerland’s representation in the Kyrgyz Republic by opening an Embassy in Bishkek in autumn 2012. This has been communicated in a letter addressed by Mr. Didier Burkhalter, Federal Councilor in charge of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs, to his counterpart Mr. Ruslan Kazakbaev, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic.

In the letter, Federal Councilor Burkhalter says: “The opening of the embassy is an expression of Switzerland’s strong commitment to the further development of our relations in the political, economic and cultural fields, as well as in the domain of technical cooperation. We are confident that the embassy will contribute to further strengthening the mutual ties that our countries have created over the last twenty years”. <>

The inauguration of the Swiss embassy in Bishkek is planned for the late autumn 2012.
