Aid Harmonisation and Alignment is a general policy of SDC and is being promoted globally through its cooperation offices. Aid Harmonisation refers to the extent of coherence in approaches, policies and systems between donors. It also refers to the extent of consistency of approaches and policies within and across governments in different domains such as security, political, humanitarian and development. Such relationships are proving to be of particular relevance in conflict and post-conflict situations, as they enhance impact and relevance of assistance delivered.
In the context of the occupied Palestinian territory, SDC works with a group of like minded donors, namely Denmark, Holland, Norway, and Sweden on aid harmonization and has implemented several core joint funding arrangements with a number of Palestinian institutions, including Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics, Palestinian Independent Commission for Citizens Rights, Gaza Community Mental Health Program, and the joint Human Rights and Good Governance Secretariat. In the humanitarian aid field, SDC is active in formal and informal aid coordination mechanisms and has worked with UNRWA for the past few years on aid harmonisation and good donor-ship. SDC regularly participates also in local aid coordination forums, including the Local Aid Coordination Committee. |
