IbharJerusalem.JPGThe Theatrical Musical Show “Jerusalem, The Bride of Arab Capitals", Funded by SDC, and Implemented by IBHAR

As part of the activities celebrating al-Quds “Jerusalem” as the Capital of Arab Culture for 2009, and in order to support talented and creative youth of the Gazan community and alleviate suffering and psychological stress of Gazan people , The Creative Thoughts Forum "IBHAR" has implemented a theoretical musical show titled" Jerusalem, The Bride of Arab Capitals".

The preparation period of the show lasted for 11 months, and more than 130 musicians, singers and administrators of different experiences have participated in the show.

The show included 22 folk songs and dances that symbolize each and every Arab country, the dancers and singers used Arab accents and costume folk that present every Arab country.

The songs highlighted the importance of Jerusalem for Arab people, where the show presented Jerusalem as Bride and all Arabs, singing for it on the celebration of Jerusalem as a Capital of Arab Culture in 2009.

The show took place in August 19th and 20th, 2009 at Rashad Alshawa theatre, more than 3200 persons of various categories and backgrounds of Palestinian people attended the show including representatives of NGOs, academic institutes and private sector. Mr. Mario Carera the former Head of SDC in the Palestinian territories has attended the show on the 19th and admired the efforts made to present the show, IBHAR team expressed their gratitude to the continues support of SDC and Mr. Carera during his time managing SDC.

The audience was satisfied with the professional and hard work presented, they expressed their appreciation and gratitude to IBHAR and the donors for their support to alleviate suffering of Gazan People and develop the cultural environment in the Palestinian Community.

The Show was broadcasted live on Al-Jazeera Mobasher satellite channel, and covered be several local and regional media channels and agencies.

wonderful, beautiful, exciting and full of feelings

That was the feeling of all who attended the special and amazing performance by El-Funoun Palestinian Popular Dance on 20 November 2008.

 The performance was done specially for Gaza to highlight Gaza's current seige, it was an attempt to lift the spirit of Gazans living under these adverse conditions.The performance was broadcasted through live satellite transmission from Ramallah Cultural Palace to Al-Mathaf Hall in Gaza, more than 1200 person attend the event between Ramallh and Gaza.

The event was organised by Ramattan News Agency, and supported by SDC.

Facing Cruelty with optimism- Gaza Beach Summer Games REACHING 25,000 CHIDLREN, Summer 2008

Despite living under siege of the Israeli occupation, Gaza youth and children have been given the opportunity to set the occupation aside and enjoy the summer as children and youth of Palestine. The beach Summer Games which are implemented by Sharek along with UNRWA have provided youth in Gaza aged 8-17 the opportunity to take part in learning activities, swimming and other water games. Sharek held a number of training courses for its field manager in the Gaza Strip to carry out these summer games for youth. Overall, this summer camp's initiative benefits about 25,000 CHIDLREN in the Gaza Strip as did 720 young animators and a number of life guards that took part in these activities.

Football Tournaments in Gaza Strip and the West Bank, June 2008

On the occasion of the European Championship 2008 hosted in Switzerland and Austria, the Swiss Development Cooperation (SDC) supported 2 young football tournaments in Gaza Strip and the West Bank. SDC aimed to engage the young players in productive sports activities, and to maintain the sport activities in both Gaza Strip and the West Bank.

The first tournament was organized jointly with the Palestinian Football Association. It was held in Qalqilya Municipality playground on Friday 20 June, 2008. 9 young Palestinian teams participated in this tournament. 

The second tournament was organised in the Gaza Strip on June 28,29. Five sport clubs were selected representing the different five Governorates in the Gaza Strip to participate in the tournament. The Gaza Championship was conducted under the name “Freedom & Peace Championship”.

On June 29 we can claim that life was back to Gaza main Stadium where almost 1000 Children from the different parts of the Strip watched the final game. An atmosphere of Joy for those who won and those who played was real in Gaza as an outcome of the tournament.

a photo exhibition that evokes the life of pre-1948 Palestine- UNRWA's commemoration to mark the 60th anniversary of al-Nakba. The exhibit premieres simultaneously in six locations- Jerusalem, Ramallah, Gaza City, Amman, Beirut, and Damascus- on 14 May 2008. Musical performances and lectures will focus on the exhibition's theme of Palestinian life before 1948, and it is planned that all six exhibits will later tour universities, municipalities, and refugee camps. The exhibition is also available for hosting and touring, regionally or internationally. "I Come from There and Remember" is sponsored by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC).


Kasaba___Manara_Theatre.JPGAl Manara Theatre Festival “60 years of Annakba” 11-24th May 2008

Al Kasaba will organize a number of cultural activities to commemorate the 60 years of Annakba; Theatre festival and Cinema screenings. The plays performed and the films screened will be all related to the Palestinian Nakba and the right for the Palestinian refugees to have a normal life and to solve their problem according to the UN Security Council Resolution 194. Al-Manara Theatre Festival is sponsored by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC).

AL-Funoun - A Letter TO - Palestine

Ramallah Contemporary Dance Festival, April 2008

Sareyyet Ramallah is organising it's 3rd Contemporary Dance Festival between April and May of 2008. the festival will include contemporary dance performances for children and adults, dance workshops, seminar sessions, and a dance contest for the best local dancer's or troupes contemporary performance.

Creators on the Way, 3 days Cultural Competition in the Gaza Strip, March 2008

The Culture and Free Thought Association organized three open days of cultural activities through the “Creators on the Way Competition” .The competition was organized in cooperation and close coordination with 83 UNRWA and Government schools from both Rafah and Khan Younis Governorate as well as the Eastern villages area of the south of Gaza Strip. The competition lasted for three days between the period of 10 to 13th of March 2008 with 1320 students participants between the ages of 6 to 15 years old.

Palestine International Award for Excellence and Creativity

Sharek Youth Forum and Yabous Production, two of SDC partners, awarded the "Palestine International Award for Excellence and Creativity".

The Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) is a part of the Swiss Foreign Ministry.
