Tales from a Globalizing World

On 27th of October 2008, the international photography exhibition “Tales from a Globalizing World” was staged at the central city square “Macedonia” in Skopje. At the opening event, Ms Kristina Kolozova, Assistant Head of Cooperation gave the opening speech.

This exhibition was created upon initiative of the SDC. Under the aegis of curator Daniel Schwartz, ten reportages were produces by exceptionally talented photographers from Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin and North America with a common theme: globalization and its impact.

After being staged in Switzerland in 2003 and 2004, the exhibition went on a world tour, attracting in excess of 150’000 visitors at ten prominent locations in major cities, including the UN in New York. Also, the exhibition was staged in Tanzania, Afghanistan, Mongolia, Mali, Bolivia, Burkina Faso while in the Balkan region, the exhibition was installed in Sarajevo during May 2008.

From the first day, the exhibition in Skopje provoked high interest among the people and attracted many of the walkers to stop and to see the photographs. As the location was very frequent one, even during the nights, the visitors were able to see the photos under the public light on the square.
