Switzerland has supported Moldova's transition through humanitarian aid and technical assistance projects since 2000.The Swiss Cooperation Office in Chisinau is responsible for coordinating these efforts. It is run by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), part of the Swiss Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Swiss cooperation with Moldova includes the following programmes:

• Public Health
• Water and Sanitation
• Economy and Employment
• Rehabilitation of Social Institutions (completed in 2008)

The brochure "Rehabilitation of Hope for a Better Life" describes the achievements of the Rehabilitation of Social Institutions Programme implemented in the period 2001-2008.
