Community Centre for Mental Health opened in Ungheni
On Thursday, May 24, 2007 the Ungheni Community Centre for Mental Health was inaugurated under the aegis of the Moldovan Ministry of Health, with the financial support of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC). The activities of the centre are aimed at psycho-social rehabilitation and re-socialization of people with mental disabilities. The beneficiaries of the centre are people with mental disorders or retardation, and their families. The centre offers a community day service and temporary placement. It will provide alternative treatment and psycho-social services, including occupational therapy, psycho-therapy, nursing and ergotherapy.
The centre promotes an individual aproach to each patient. It is foreseen that the social assistents and families of the patients will actively take part in the community activities of the centre.
The Ungheni Community Centre for Mental Health has been created in the frame of the Mental Health Project of the Swiss Cooperation Office in Moldova. The implementing agency is „Somato” NGO.
