Summary

Since 1990, NSCFP has been supporting the implementation of the National Community Forestry Programme in Dolakha, Ramechhap and Okhaldhunga districts through multiple-partnerships modality with different actors. The ultimate aim is to reduce poverty and thus contribute to the national poverty reduction strategy. The project has been working on livelihoods improvement and pro-poor enterprise development programmes mainly for disadvantaged households and improved governance of the Community Forestry User Groups (CFUGs). This is the last foreseen phase of NSCFP and represents a period of consolidation of its activities, while preparing the ground for a new programme that responds to the needs of local people in the changing political and institutional setting of the country.
