World Water Day activities in Pakistan
World communities have been celebrating World Water Day on 22ndof March since 1993. This special day is celebrated in view of the immense importance of this precious commodity. It grew out of agenda 21 of the 1992 United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED) in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. A different advocacy theme is specified for each year. This year’s theme is, “Water and Food Security: The World is Thirsty because we are Hungry”.
IRSP and JIPL with the financial support of SDC celebrated World Water Day at Charsadda and Nowshera. The main theme of this event was to promote hygienic practices and SODIS to promote healthy lives in both the targeted locations. The function comprised of both girls and boys schools at each location. As a resultant 4 celebrations were made, 2 at Charsadda and 2 at Nowshera.WWD was attended by officials from SDC, JIPL and the core team of IRSP.
